The film is produced by Way To Films Entertainment and its title poster was released last month.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Shemeer, who marks his directorial debut with Oru Jaathi Manushyan, says, “The title is a colloquial phrase used in Kerala’s countryside. It loosely translates to ‘one type of humankind.’ The film follows two groups – teenagers and young adults in their late 20s.”

He adds that Oru Jaathi Manushyan touches upon societal concerns like caste differences and the film aims to show that these man-made differences in society can be bridged by staying united. “The film will explore a love story as well as family dynamics and the challenges of stereotypical ideologies in society that may affect youngsters,” he says.

Talking about the conception of the story, Shemeer says, “My inspiration for making this film came from day-to-day events that happen around us. I’ve developed one of my old short stories into a feature-length film script. It took about two years to lock the final script.”

Oru Jaathi Manushyan features budding artists Sharukh and Sneha in the lead roles. The director mentions that seven new faces also appear in the film. Aside from them, actors James Elia, Lishoy, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Niyas Backer, Baiju Ezhupunna, Vinod Kedamangalam and Aristo Suresh will be seen essaying pivotal roles.

The film has been predominantly shot in Ottapalam and a few other neighbouring places in the Palakkad district by cinematographer Sulfi Bhutto. Filming took place during the pandemic and it was, therefore, shot over several schedules. The film was wrapped up in November last year.

Oru Jaathi Manushyan is edited by Sulfi Bhutto and it features three songs composed by Yunused and written by popular lyricist Engadiyoor Chandrasekharan. The film is currently in post-production and the team is planning for an audio release soon.
