The motion poster of the film was released on Sunday by several technicians and artists from the Malayalam film industry, including producer NM Badusha and director Sangeeth Sivan

Oru Wayanadan Pranayakatha is produced under the MK productions banner by Latheef Kalamassery and director Ilyas.

In conversation with Silverscreen India, Ilyas says the film is about love that blooms during school days. “It will be a nostalgic experience for the audience as they can connect it with their school days. The film will cater to young and family audiences.”

The filmmaker, who is also a vlogger, notes that the inspiration behind Oru Wayanadan Pranayakatha was his own childhood and schooling period. “I wrote the film based on some heartwarming experiences that I had while studying in school. I worked on the script during the initial phase of lockdown in 2020. And then, my friend Latheef and I decided to produce the project ourselves.”

Oru Wayanadan Pranayakatha went on floors in December last year and after a total of 35 days of shoot, it was completed in mid-February. Madhu Madassery has handled the camerawork. “As the title suggests, the film was completely shot in Wayanad in Kerala. I was born and brought up in Wayanad, so I thought it would be nice to set the film there,” reveals Ilyas.

The film has three songs composed by Murali Appadath, he adds.

While thrillers are currently in vogue in the Malayalam industry, Ilyas believes the Malayalee audience will be open to any good content, irrespective of the genre. “Initially, there was a trend of OTT platforms picking only thrillers or films with stellar casts. However, I believe there is always a great scope for good family entertainers and romantic films. Hence, we decided to make a feel-good, happy film.”

Oru Wayanadan Pranayakatha has been made with a theatrical release in mind, he adds. “However, we will take a final decision regarding the release based on the situation in Kerala.”
