Paava Kadhaigal comprises four stories, each helmed by directors Gautham Menon, Sudha Kongara, Vetrimaaran, and Vignesh Shivan. The two-minute-long trailer shows the four broad themes each story will focus on- honour, love, sin, and pride.

The film stars Anjali, Kalki Koechlin, Kalidas Jayaram, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Hari, Prakash Raj, Sai Pallavi, Shantanu Bhagyaraj, and Simran.

The film will release on December 18.

Paava Kadhaigal will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under his RSVP Movies banner, and Ashi Dua Sara, under the Flying Unicorn Entertainment banner.

Vetri Maaran, who directed Oor Iravu in the film, said in the press release: “Each of these stories brings together incidents from across the country that are gruesome. It shows how pride on a personal and societal level affects human relationships. I am looking forward to this story reaching out to an audience around the globe and relate with them in some way or the other.”

Vignesh, who has directed Love Panna Uttranum, said: “The shoot for the film was brilliant and it was a great experience working with such solid actors that gave their best performances. Paava Kadhaigal helped me explore such an authentic theme in an honest way and gave me the opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced filmmakers from the industry.”

During a conversation with film critic Baradwaj Rangan during the trailer launch, when asked how tough it was to write a short film, Kongara said, “I did not find it easy at all. When I write, there is a beginning, middle, and an end. I take my time to work out the whole emotion. I was doing what I would do to in a feature in 30 minutes and I was not treating it as a separate format, so that became pretty challenging for me.”
