Director Pandiraj’s upcoming film SK16 went on floors in Chennai today. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, Anu Emmanuel and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead. Announcements about the film’s cast and crew were made by producers Sun Pictures on Twitter this week.
SK16 is pitched as a rural family entertainer. Directors Bharathiraja and Samuthirakani will be seen in important roles. Cinematographer Natarajan, actor-producer RK Suresh, actors Soori, Yogi Babu are part of the supporting cast. D Imman is the music composer for the film, Nirav Shah is the cinematographer, Anthony Ruben is the editor, and actor Veera Samar is the art director.

Reports speculated that Aishwarya Rajesh was part of the film, and the makers have confirmed it, as well as announced that Anu Emmanuel also plays the lead. After starring in Thupparivaalan in Tamil, Anu went on to act in Telugu films such as Peru Surya co-starring Allu Arjun, and Agnyaathavaasi with Pawan Kalyan.
Aishwarya Rajesh recently worked with Sivakarthikeyan on his first production venture Kanaa. She is busy with many films in Tamil including Dhruva Natchathiram, Mei, and Karuppar Nagaram. She has three Telugu projects in the pipeline.

Sivakarthikeyan made his debut as an actor in Pandiraj’s Marina in 2012. A year later, he played the lead along with Vemal in the director’s Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga. Both films turned out to be blockbusters. Pandiraj’s last film was the Karthi-starrer Kadaikutty Singam, also a rural drama.
Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan is gearing up for Mr Local, scheduled to hit screens on 17 May. The film is directed by M Rajesh, and has Nayanthara playing the female lead. Yogi Babu, Narayan Lucky and Radika Sarathkumar play supporting roles.
The actor also has the upcoming Hero with PS Mithran of Irumbi Thirai fame, a science fiction film with R Ravikumar, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh, and a film with director Vignesh Shivan.
