Papanasam won’t be a frame-by-frame remake of Drishyam. According to Jeethu Joseph, the film has several new elements. If the original was more a ‘mind-game’ without any action scenes, the remake is said to have a lot of stunt sequences.
Kamal Haasan recently confirmed the stunt scenes when he was injured on the sets of Papanasam. “A make-up rubber prosthetic slipped into my nasal passage and had to be carefully removed under medical supervision,” the actor explained, “It was a stunt scene, so I had simulated injuries on my face.”
The film, which also marks the comeback of actress Gauthami, has Kamal speaking the Tirunelveli dialect.
The unit is currently shooting at Thodupuzha in Kerala, where the original was filmed. The project is jointly produced by Wide Angle Creations and Raj Kumar Theatres Pvt Ltd.
