Produced by UGM Entertainment, the film’s screenplay is written by Abhilash Pillai

Earlier, Silverscreen India had reported that the two actors are teaming up for director Padmakumar’s upcoming family thriller.

Pathaamvalavu went on floors in Thodupuzha on April 22 and also features actors Aditi Ravi, Swasika Vijay and child artist Kanmani, daughter of the actor Muktha, in pivotal roles.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, the film’s screenwriter Abhilash Pillai said that the team, which had already completed 15 days of shooting before the process was temporarily halted due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, will resume shooting in September. “The shoot would go on for 35 days in a single schedule. For now, the plan is to shoot in parts of Kattappana, Idukki but we may need to consider locations outside Kerala if Covid-19 cases continue to rise in the state,” he added.

Pillai had earlier told Silverscreen India that the film is based on a true event that happened in Kerala a few years ago. “Though it is a thriller, the story will revolve around a family and its emotions. I believe this film will connect with the audience beyond Kerala,” he said. He added that Suraj will have three different looks in the film.

Music composer Ranjin Raj will collaborate with Padmakumar for the second time in this film. The film’s technical crew consists of Ratheesh Ram as the cinematographer, Shameer as the editor, and Mafia Sasi as the stunt coordinator.

Asked about his collaboration with Padmakumar, Pillai said, “I got an opportunity to meet Padmakumar during the shooting of Mamangam. I narrated this story and he was impressed with it. From there on I developed the screenplay and dialogues.”
