Pawan Kalyan’s film Agnyaathavaasi, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, is currently in a copyright row after it was speculated that it could be the Telugu remake of a French film called Largo Winch. According to reports, the film’s team have been served with a legal notice from T-Series asking for a clarification.
Confirming the notice, a source from T-Series, who owns the remake rights, said that they are merely checking to see if there is no copyright violation.
Largo Winch, a film adaptation of a comic of the same name, is about a billionaire’s adopted son who hunts for his father’s murderers and also proves that he is the legitimate heir. The film was released in 2008, and even had a sequel titled The Burma Conspiracy that was released in 2011.
Directed by Trivikram Srinivas and produced by S Radha Krishna under the banner Haarika & Hassine Creations, Agnyaathavaasi went on floors early last year and has been shot in exotic locations across Europe. Apart from Pawan Kalyan, the film stars Keerthy Suresh, Anu Emmanuel, Aadhi Pinisetty, Boman Irani, Kushboo, Parag Tyagi, Rao Ramesh, Sampath Raj and Murali Sharma. Anirudh Ravichander will be making his debut as music composer in the Telugu film industry while V Manikandan is the cinematographer.
The film is scheduled for a January 10 release.
