PC Sreeraam has signed on as the cinematographer for Balki’s upcoming film. This is the second time that the ace cinematographer will be working with Balki. They previously collaborated for Ki & Ka, a film that attempted to re-define gender stereotypes.
Speaking to Silverscreen, PC Sreeram said, “I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to sign new and different projects after I. Balki’s film is also like that. We share the same sensibilities, and so when he narrated this story to me, I signed on immediately.”
The film is a rural entertainer, a genre that Sreeram has not explored in his decades-long journey in the film world. “I am most excited about that, actually. Till now, for Hindi films, mostly I’ve shot in and around urban areas. To explore the hinterlands of North India will be a great adventure indeed.”
The film has Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. Actress Radhika Apte has a major role in the project and was one of the first actors to sign on. Ilaiyaraaja will compose the music for the project, which is scheduled to start soon.
Meanwhile, PC is busy filming Aneethi Kathaigal – the long-awaited second film from Thiagarajan Kumararaja, and has Vijay Sethupathi, Fahad Faasil, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
