People Of Karnataka Want A Ban On Kaala: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy

Kaala Movie Stills Starring Rajinikanth

Two days back, Rajinikanth had expressed hope that the issue of ban on the release of Kaala in Karnataka will be solved amicably by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. Now, Chief Minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy said that though no political party has called for a ban, the film chamber and the people of Karnataka do not want the film to release in the state.

Provoked with Rajini’s comment on the Cauvery water dispute, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce had decided not to allow the screening Kaala, which is slated to release on June 7.

On the proposed ban Rajinikanth had said,“The Karnataka chamber is part of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. Definitely, they will intervene and solve it amicably.”

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) president Sa Ra Govindu, confirmed that Kaala won’t be released in Karnataka. “Requests came from all over Karnataka seeking to ban the film in the state. As we were not in a position to take a call on the issue on our own, we called a meeting of the film’s distributors and producers on Tuesday. After assessing the situation, they decided not to release the film as they feel it would create a law and order problem which is not in their business interest,” said Govindu.

Meanwhile, Tamil Film Producers Council President Vishal has said that he is ready to meet the Chief Minister of Karnataka to resolve the matter.
