Prabhu Deva’s ‘Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja’ Shelved After Vishal, Karthi Opt Out

The shoot of Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja, directed by Prabhu Deva, starring Vishal, Karthi and Sayesha, started on the first week of July, however, the work stopped after 10 days of shooting.

Initially, it was reported that Karthi was busy with other films and that shoot will resume in a few days. Later, Vishal and Karthi opted out of the film citing date issues. Now, according to sources, the film has been shelved.

A source tells Silverscreen, “Vishal and Karthi opted out due to creative differences over the script. They discussed it with Prabhu Deva, as the changes were not made, they decided to walk out. Then Jayam Ravi was in talks for the film. However, he has prior commitments which includes Sanghamitra. Meanwhile, Prabhu Deva, too, has to start the pre-production work of his Hindi film and could not continue his work on this film. So, the film has been shelved for now. They may revive the project later.”

When the film started rolling in July, the team had planned to shoot for a month. They stopped the shoot without any prior announcement. They have so far canned a dance sequence with lead actress Sayesha.
