Two days back, Malayalam actor Prithviraj gave his fans a reminder on something that he had promised in 2015. Soon, people started speculating and posting their own version of what the actor meant. Some said it’s the second part of Urumi and some guessed it as an official announcement of Aadujeevitham.
But his Facebook post from 2015 suggested the ‘story of an unsung hero’. A while back, he was slated to play the role of Karnan in VS Vimal’s movie but later backed out of the project. Some fans assumed that the post was something related to that. Putting all speculations to rest, the actor announced his next project, Kaaliyan and the name of his character ‘Kunchirakkottu Kaali’.
On Monday, he released the first motion poster of the movie.
The film is touted to be an epic drama on Kerala’s struggle for the Indian Independence. The actor is seen in a whole new get up with long hair and a thick beard. The film will be based on Iravi Kutty Pillai and Kunchirakottu Kali. Pillai was said to be a great Commander-in-Chief of the Venad Kingdom of South Kerala. The film will also star Sathyaraj in a historical role after Baahubali.
The theme music is composed by Anil Kaduva and the lyrics are given by Rajeev Nair.
The filmmakers have roped in music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the project. The film will be directed by S. Mahesh and is screenplay is BT Anil Kumar. The epic drama is based on the ballads of Venad. Rajeev Nair of Magic Moon Productions is bankrolling the project.
Meanwhile, the teaser of another Prithviraj-starrer, Ranam- Detroit Crossing was released. In the teaser, Prithviraj’s character is seen taking drinking in a pub with Isha Talwar and discussing their life choices. When she asks him whether he likes his work, the scene cuts to show a series of car chases and bloodied crashes.
Directed by debutant Nirmal Sachdev, Prithviraj plays a gang leader shuttling between Detroit and Michigan. The film also stars Rahman in a prominent role. It was earlier reported that Ranam – Detroit Crossing is based on true events focusing on Tamil street fights in the US.
