Priya Prakash Varrier has signed her first Kannada film with debut director Raghu Koti, co-starring newcomer Suraj Kumar. The film is likely to begin shoot in August.
A source close to Priya Varrier told Silverscreen, “The agreement was signed recently, announcements about the start of the schedule will be made soon. She has an important role in the film but we cannot reveal anything more at this point as there may be changes to the script.”
The director met Priya Varrier with the script at her house in Trissur and she immediately agreed to be a part of the project. An official announcement is expected on August 9, when a grand launch has been planned. Celebrities from the Kannada industry have reportedly been invited for this event and shoot will begin soon after. According to reports, the film is produced by BS Sudhindra, Arjun Janya is the music composer and Satya Hegde is the cinematographer. Other details are not known yet.
Priya Varrier, who shot to fame with the wink scene in her debut movie Oru Aadar Love, has a number of Tamil and Malayalam projects under production currently and is also busy with the final year of her bachelors’ degree in college.
She is making her Bollywood debut with Sridevi Bungalow, the trailers for which released recently. The film faced controversy as the story mirrored the circumstances that led to the death of actress Sridevi. Producer Boney Kapoor, Sridevi’s husband, sent a legal notice to the filmmakers asking them not to use her name anywhere in the film. However, director Prashanth said it was a common name and he was prepared to face any issue. In a recent interview to News 18, Priya said that she was confident the film will do well.
She also has her second Hindi film Love Hackers, a thriller about cyber security and crime, directed by Mayank Prakash Srivatsava. Pre-production work is on and she will be travelling to various locations across Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Lucknow for shoot soon.
