Director Priyadarshan’s drama Sila Samayangalil will open the 2017 Jaipur International Film Festival, which begins on January 7. The film, which addresses the issue of HIV/AIDS awareness, features Prakash Raj in the lead role. Actor Ashok Selvan, who has done a pivotal role in the film, will attend the ceremony of the film festival and take part in a discussion.
Sila Samayangalil will be screened on the Tivoli screen of the Golecha Cinema at 6 pm on January 7. The film has been nominated in the main competition category in the film festival and is also in the running for a special Green Rose Award, for the Best film with a Global Message at the festival.
The Jaipur International Film festival will conclude on January 11.
Sila Samayangalail had made it to the final round of selection for the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards this year. Of the 10 films that reached the final rounds, it was the only one from India. The film is based on eight characters who arrive at a pathology lab to give their blood for an AIDS test. Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Nassar and Ashok Selvan play the lead roles in the film, which has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
