Priyanka Chopra In A Manish Malhotra Anarkali At A Book Launch In Delhi

Priyanka Chopra’s thriller-drama series Quantico might have been cancelled by ABC, but the actress has a lot to look forward to. Apart from doing Bharat with Salman Khan, Priyanka will soon start working on The Sky Is Pink, a film by Shonali Bose, who directed the widely-appreciated Margarita With A Straw.

The film is based on the life of Aisha Chaudhary, who turned motivational speaker at the age of 15. She was detected with an immuno-deficiency disorder when she was six months old. She developed pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 13, for which she had to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Despite her health issues, Aisha was known for her fighting spirit and even authored a book ‘My Little Epiphanies’. She succumbed to her ailments in January 2015 at the age of 18.

It was earlier reported that Zaira Wasim, who impressed the audience with her performance in Secret Superstar, will portray Aisha’s role in the film. There were also reports that Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan will play her parents, but there is still no confirmation on Bachchan’s role in the film.

According to The Indian ExpressThe Sky Is Pink won the Script Pool Award at the Tallinn & Baltic Event 2017 Awards. The jury reportedly said, “The script is a complex narrative about fate. How does a girl who is suffering from a life-threatening disease feel? Aisha tells us her fate in a nonlinear way as a love story of her parents. The script is about to become an extraordinary experience that can truly inspire, challenge and entertain audiences when it is further developed in a consequent way.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka will also team up with director Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan for Krrish 4. While the director has confirmed Priyanka’s name in the film, nothing has been revealed about her role.
