Purampokku‘s shooting has been stalled to allow the film’s cast and crew to join the Director’s Union protest against the Sri Lankan Government. SP Jhananathan, the director of the film, announced his decision through an official press release. “We strongly condemn the degarding and offensive act of the Sri Lankan Government. This humiliation meted out to our Chief Minister cannot be pardoned and we want to make our point loud and clear,” said the National Award winning director.

The team is currently shooting at a specially built set in the outskirts of the city. Actors Vijay Sethupathi, Arya, Shaam and Karthika Nair are part of this schedule and have been notified of this change in plan. It is not known whether the actors will join the protest as well.
