It was initially reported that Shah Rukh Khan was being considered to play one of the leads but it was refuted later. According to Mumbai Mirror, the makers are currently waiting for Neeraj Pandey to finish the script before pitching it to A-list actors. “After the release of the Tamil original many of them reached out to S Sashikanth (Y Not Studios) to partner with him on the Hindi remake. The film can easily be made with any good talent but stars guarantee a wider reach which is what the idea of the remake is,” says Shibasish Sarkar, COO, Reliance Entertainment. Pushkar and Gayatri who directed the Tamil movie will also direct the Hindi version.
Vikram Vedha released last year, opening to an overwhelmingly positive response at the box-office. The film featured R Madhavan as Vikram – an encounter specialist, and Vijay Sethupathi as Vedha – a gangster and the supposed antagonist of the film. The film is about how an encounter operation turns into a personal relationship between the notorious gangster and the cop, a retelling of the Hindu mythical story of Vikram and Betal.
