‘Raabta’ Promo Song Is Stolen, Says Punjabi Singer J-Star

Punjabi singer J-Star has alleged that the music company T-Series used his popular track “Na Na Na Na” for the promotional video of Raabta. The song titled “Main Tera Boyfriend”he alleges, was used without his consent.

Sung by Arijit Singh and Neha Kakkar, “Main Tera Boyfriend” was released on May 25 and has crossed over 2300 views.

J-Star’s “Na Na Na Na” released in 2015 and has over eight million views. Raabta‘s promotional song has a similar tune and lyrics.

Taking to his Facebook account, J-Star wrote:

This is the second copyright accusation against the makers of Raabta. The makers of SS Rajamouli’s Magadheera (2009) have filed a copyright violation petition against the film, which stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon. In their petition, the Magadheera team alleges that Raabta’s writers have “copied its unique story and plot line”.

Magadheera, directed by SS Rajamouli, stars Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal as star-crossed lovers who eventually find each other in a different life. Incidentally, Raabta’s trailer shares a similar premise.

In response, Raabta’s writers dismissed the similarities between the two films.

Raabta, directed by Dinesh Vijan, is scheduled to release on 9 June.
