The Tamil remake of the 2016 Kannada hit Godhi Banna Saadharna Mykattu is scheduled to release this August. Titled Arubadhu Vayadhu Maaniram, the film is directed by Radha Mohan, who recently wrapped up the Tumhari Sulu remake starring Jyothika.
Arubadhu Vayadhu Maaniram is the first remake in Radha Mohan’s filmography and will see him work with long-time collaborator Prakash Raj (who bagged the remake rights of the film in Tamil and Telugu) and Vikram Prabhu. The actors take on the lead roles made memorable by Anant Nag and Rakshit Shetty, respectively.
Actors Indhuja, Kumaravel, Dr Bharat Reddy form the rest of the cast.
Presented by Kalaipuli S Thanu’s V Creations, the film was wrapped up a while ago but got held back due to the strike and other issues. Music is by Ilaiyaraaja, cinematography by Vivek Anand, dialogues by Viji, editing by Jai and art direction by K Kathir. The lyricists on board are Pa Vijay, Palani Bharathi and Vivek. Radha Mohan has also written the screenplay for the film.
The director has worked with Prakash Raj after a brief hiatus. “We meet very often as friends, and as a director, I’d love to work with him anytime. This role asked for an actor like him. He worked hard on the character,” says Radha Mohan.
“That Vikram Prabhu came on board for this role was a pleasant surprise. His role has shaped up very well, and you’ll set to a Vikram you’ve not seen on screen before. Indhuja is namma oor ponnu (our girl),” he added.

The director is happiest that he got to work with Ilaiyaraaja. “I’ve seen him work when I was an assistant director. I consider it a privilege that I got to sit with him, explain the situation and see him compose tunes. He works at the same speed that he used to, and as effortlessly. This has been a very memorable experience and a great learning process.”
Godhi Banna Saadharana Mykattu, directed by Hemanth Rao, starred Rakshit Shetty as the son in search of his father (Anant Nag) who has Alzheimer’s and goes missing. It bagged three wins in Filmfare Awards South 2017, including one each for Anant Nag (Best Actor) and Shruti Hariharan (Best Actress, Critics).
