Radhika Apte Calls For Pay Parity In Industry On Women’s Day

Actress Radhika Apte has called for equality and pay parity in film industries this International Women’s Day.

The Kabali actress said that one day wasn’t enough, because women have to fight for equality every single day. A report in Hindustan Times quotes her as saying, “Of course, there has to be more equality on that front. In fact, not just gender, there must be equality in everything else too.”

The 31-year-old actress also said that where payments and contracts are concerned, we need to strive for timely and better pay. Speaking against the hierarchy prevalent in society, where women’s work is given less status, she said, “What I’d like the industry to do is to have fair contracts and we need to pay people on time. We also need to respect people’s time and money. I think these are very important things as any profession goes. It will be good if that changes.”

“As a woman, you need to fight for your rights and equality of all kinds. You have to also treat other people with equality too. You need to do that everyday and not just on Women’s Day. I am a woman and I have to live every day, what is just one day of fighting going to do?” she said.

Radhika Apte is currently working on two projects, including Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi starring Harshvardhan Kapoor.
