Raghava Lawrence, who is known for his horror comedy Muni franchise, is set to release the fourth installment of the film – Kanchana 3, on April 18.
The Muni series is one of his most successful ventures till date. The actor-director is currently busy with shoot for the fourth installment. Muni 4: Kanchana 3’s technical crew includes S Thaman for music, Vetri and Sarvesh Murari for cinematography, Nivetha Joseph for costume design. The film is bankrolled by Kalanidhi Maran under his banner Sun Pictures. The star cast includes Kovai Sarala, Manobala, Sriman, Devadarshini and Kabir Duhan Singh in supporting roles.
According to a report, the final schedule has three days of shoot left, and the release will be as planned. It is said that the film is made on a high budget and could be the most expensive film in the franchise. The makers are planning a Telugu and Tamil release.
During Pongal, the makers released a motion poster for the film. The video opens in a housing colony and shifts to some action scenes, and finally the film’s lead Raghava Lawerence is seen in a new avatar wearing a white shirt and dhoti with rudraksha around his neck.
Lawrence had previously planned Kanchana 3 with a female protagonist. “There may not be a hero, and I am considering a lead female star. I am also retaining those who are relevant like Kovai Sarala madam who played my mother, Devadarshini, Manobala, and Sreeman in the fourth part as well,” the actor told Silverscreen.
“Just like Kanchana which addressed transgender people’s issues, in the fourth part, I have taken up a different social issue,” he said.
The Kanchana franchise has been very successful mainly for its popularity among children. It’s a horror-comedy, widely appreciated by family audiences.
