Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ Collects Rs 644.4 Crore in India in 9 Days

RRR (Roudhram Ranam Rudhiram), the Telugu period drama that hit theatres on March 25, has collected Rs 644.4 crore at the Indian box office in its first nine days, Anupam Reddy, Secretary of the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce, tells Silverscreen India.

Although made in Telugu, the film was also released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Reddy says the film has earned a producer share of Rs 214.4 crore and a gross of Rs 313.5 crore in the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Inching towards the 1,000 crore mark, RRR’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 809 crore (gross) and Rs 451.15 crore (share).

The SS Rajamouli directorial opened to full occupancy in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where theatres ran five shows a day and were permitted to charge hiked ticket prices. Speaking to us earlier, theatre owners shared that the film received great responses from moviegoers, and said that RRR was the most successful film to be released since the pandemic.

It is to be noted that with RRR, Rajamouli broke his own previous opening day record. While his Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) had collected Rs 212 crore worldwide on the day of its release, RRR surpassed this record, earning Rs 223 crore on its first day.

RRR is a fictional account of freedom fighters Alluri Sitaramaraju and Komaram Bheem, essayed by Ram Charan and Junior NTR, respectively. The film features a star-studded cast drawn from several film industries, including Hindi actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, Irish actor Alison DoodyShriya SaranRay Stevenson, and Olivia Morris, among others.

Recently, Bhatt clarified on social media that all is well between her and the RRR team, after speculations arose that she had unfollowed Rajamouli on Instagram, and had deleted promotional videos of the film from her account, over the limited screen time she got in the final cut of the film. Bhatt appears in an extended cameo role in RRR.
