Rajinikanth ‘Ready’ To Donate Rs 1 Crore For Indian Rivers Inter-Link Project

Rajinikanth has reportedly said that he is ready to donate Rs 1 Crore to the Central Government’s Inter-linking Rivers Project.

“Rajini told us that he will take steps to facilitate inter-linking rivers, he said first (Peninsular) rivers like Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna, Palaru, and Cauvery should be linked,” Ayyakannu, president of National South Indian Rivers Inter-Linking Farmers Association, said.

After a 2002 fast for the Cauvery issue, Rajinikanth had famously announced that he would donate Rs 1 Crore for the project. 15 years later, it is only now that the actor has decided to act upon the promise. 


“Rajinkanth offered to give us Rs 1 crore immediately towards river linking, however, we requested him to hand it over to PM Modi for a project in this connection,” the farmer who headed the Delhi protests a told PTI. 

The actor also assured that he will ensure Modi is made aware of the issue.
