Rajinikanth’s Next Titled ‘Darbar’, First-Look Released

Darbar Movie Poster Featuring Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth and Nayanthara’s next with AR Murugadoss has been titled Darbar. The first look poster of the film released this morning, and the names of others from the team were revealed.

Like it has been speculated, Rajini plays a cop in the film and the poster gives a lot of hints for that. There are guns, a police dog, handcuff, caution warning and more, with the words, “You decide whether you want me to be good, bad or worse” – a message that the widely smiling Rajini possibly has for the rivals in the film.

An official press release by the team said that film will be extensively shot in Mumbai, and will go on floors tomorrow. The film is scheduled to release during Pongal 2020.

The rest of the team includes cinematographer Santosh Shivan, who will be working with the actor 27 years after Thalapathy. Music is by Anirudh Ravichander, the composer of Petta. Sreekar Prasad is the editor, T Santhanam the art director, Ram-Lakshman are the stunt directors. The film is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions, who produced the recent 2.0.

Darbar is director AR Murugadoss’ first film with Rajinikanth. Nayanthara and Rajinikanth have worked together in Chandramukhi and Kuselan. Talks are on with Nivetha Thomas to play Rajini’s daughter in Darbar. It has been speculated that he plays a dual role in the film and one of his characters stars opposite Keerthy Suresh. Reports say that SJ Suryah will be seen as the antagonist.

Pre-production work on the film is currently on, and more announcements will be made soon. The director had earlier hinted in an interview that the film might be a fantasy venture. This is Rajinikanth’s 167th film, and is believed to be his last one before he enters politics. He announced earlier this year that he will not be contesting Lok Sabha elections.
