Rajkummar Rao announced his new project Rooh-Afza – a horror comedy in which he will share the screen with Jhanvi Kapoor. The movie will be directed by newcomer Hardik Mehta and jointly produced by Dinesh Vijan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

Rooh Afza marks the third collaboration between Rajkummar Rao and Dinesh Vijan after Stree and Made in China. Stree, a horror-comedy co-starring Pankaj Tripathi and Shraddha Kapoor, was one of biggest hits in Rajkummar’s career. Varun Sharma is also part of Rooh Afza. Vijan was quoted in a News18 report saying “We needed actors who could jump into their roles with unabashed conviction. Rajkummar and Varun are phenomenal actors, comedy is a space they excel in and own.”
The makers apparently took some time to fix the female lead. “For the female lead, we needed someone who could portray two contrasting personalities with ease, and Janhvi stood out. She really connected with the script. Her talent is still raw, but she is excited about being moulded. The script is young, refreshing and totally crazy, and she is exactly that,” said Vijan.

The team apparently took time to finalise the female lead, because the script demanded that she had to oscillate between two characters that are poles apart. The shooting for the movie will begin in Uttar Pradesh in June and the film is slated to release on March 20 next year.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao also has Mental Hai Kya alongside Kangana Ranaut and Turram Khan opposite Nushrat Bharucha in the pipeline. He will also be seen alongside Mouni Roy in Made in China.
Jhanvi Kapoor, who made her debut last year with Dhadak, the Hindi remake of the Marathi superhit Sairat, has been cast in Karan Johar’s period drama Takht. She will share screenspace with Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal and Kareena Kapoor.
