Rajkummar Rao revealed that he was disappointed when his Trapped did not get any National Awards. The film was a survival-drama-thriller about a guy named Shaurya, played by Rajkummar Rao, who gets trapped in his own house at a high rise building with no escape route.
He told DC:
“Yes, I felt sad when ‘Trapped’ didn’t win any National Award. ‘Trapped’ was submitted in 2016 for the National Award.”
The actor received much acclaim for his performance in the film, and was considered a frontrunner to receive the Best Actor honour. But, Akshay Kumar won it for his roles in Rustom and Airlift, a decision that was deemed highly controversial by the media as well as the public. Eventually, the National award jury was accused of favoritism and bias by the media.
