Director Ram Gopal Varma, who has a reputation for posting controversial tweets, celebrated Donald Trump’s victory in last night’s United States presidential campaign with a tweet about the Obamas’ faces turning “blacker”.
Obama’s and Michelle Obama’s faces must have turned blacker than this with today’s trumping result ? pic.twitter.com/VMta5QvkZM

The tweet was met with outrage, as most called described his sentiment as racist, and pointed out that he himself was dark-skinned. In response, RGV tweeted,
Yes I am black but I luv whites? ..All blacks luv whites more, but since I am not egotistic like most of them I accept the truth ? https://t.co/vrX3FRt69r

Earlier on Monday night, Ram Gopal Varma had tweeted criticism at Akhil Akkineni for his impending marriage to fashion designer Shriya Bhupal. RGV wrote, “@AkhilAkineni8 Evn b4 a career takes off can’t understand why f**k u wanna land in marriage, (sic),”
That tweet also caused a furore, and Varma subsequently deleted it. Akhil’s father actor Nagarjuna, who had earlier congratulated RGV after the latter announced his new film Nuclear subsequently deleted his tweet, presumably as a reaction to RGV’s comments. Nagarjuna had tweeted, “Very happy for @RGVzoomin doing a fantastic international project/Make us proud ramu”. RVG had replied saying,
Hey Nag,I owe 10 lifetimes to u for gvng break in Shiva to a amateur like me. That proves ur vision of me more than whether I have vision ? https://t.co/Sug2GdZNbo

He said, “We wake up every morning to hear dreadful news of a terror attack happening somewhere or the other. Incidents like planes bringing down towers, a truck plowing through people on the roads, slaughtering hundreds of innocent people in Paris,Mumbai etc are terrifying enough, but the real and truly unthinkable terror is, what if someone gets their hands on a nuclear bomb? It’s obvious that an actual nuclear explosion in a big city like Mumbai can easily trigger WORLD WAR III and thus end the WORLD.”
The director is currently working on the third installment of the Sarkar franchise, which stars Amitabh Bachchan.
