Varma has  long been a controversial figure on and off social media. His often objectionable and vulgar opinions have targeted everybody from actor Rajinikanth to tennis player Sania Mirza. Following the continuous opposition to his activities, Varma said that he was de-activating his social media accounts earlier this year.
