Ram Gopal Varma Baahubali Tweets

A scene in Vangaveeti has angered Ayyappa devotees. In the Ram Gopal Varma film, a man wearing the ayyappa maala, is shown killing another man. This has offended the group, who promptly filed a complaint against the director. The devotees have petitioned the Police Commissioner in Hyderabad, and have asked him to make sure this ‘offensive’ scene is removed.

As per a report in gulte.com, the police have received a formal complaint and a case is yet to be filed against the 54-year-old director. The police have launched an inquiry into the issue.

The film, a biopic on slain politician Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, has been controversion since its inception. Members of the Radha Ranga Mitra Mandali, followers of Vangaveeti Radha Krishna – son of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, raised slogans outside theatres screening the film, and demanded the withdrawal of the film’s title as it does not reflect the facts.

Ram Gopal Varma has held his ground, and has said that his film was a truthful account of Mohana Ranga’s life.
