Ranbir Kapoor Admits He Considered Shelving ‘Jagga Jasoos’

Ranbir Kapoor, who is making his debut as a producer with Jagga Jasoos, said he had considered shelving the film because of delayed dates and cancelled shoots. Speaking to Mid-Day, Ranbir admitted the film took a while to come together.

“We [Ranbir, Anurag and Katrina] would often discuss the progress of the film. We would wonder if we should shelve it. But then, in the end, I’d go back to the time I first heard the story, when it made me feel amazing. And that took us through the journey. When I saw the film, I realised that it turned out exactly like my director had envisioned it, like he had narrated it four years ago. It felt really good,” he said.

Apart from altered dates and rescheduling shoots, the film was also subjected to negative press. “There are some films which take time to make. I have shot for Jagga Jasoos for 150 days. But, in the past, I have shot for other films for as long. We had to battle the negative reports surrounding the film. I would be lying if I said that it didn’t bother me. In the end, we decided to concentrate on the positives and move ahead,” he said.

In Jagga Jasoos, Ranbir plays a teenager with a stuttering problem who looks for his father. The film’s trailer was released on June 29, showing hints of Ranbir and Katrina’s chemistry in Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani (2009). The film is slated to release on July 14.
