Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film with Rohit Shetty has been titled My Name Is Lakhan, a reference to Anil Kapoor’s iconic song from the 1989 film Ram Lakhan. While the film is inspired by Kapoor’s character, it will not be based on the film or the character. According to the New Indian Express, Singh will play the role of a corrupt cop.
The film will be a commercial entertainer and will go on floors by the end of 2017 before which Rohit Shetty is expected to finish shooting for Golmaal Again. Reports suggest that the film is said to be a remake of Junior NTR’s 2015 hit film Temper.
Temper was directed by Puri Jagannadh, and starred Junior NTR and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. The film revolved around Daya, a corrupt police officer who finds love and decides to repent. The film earned Junior NTR several cinema awards down south including an IIFA and CineMAA Awards.
Meanwhile, Singh is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati with Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
