Santhosh said, “I have just come back from Hyderabad I had gone to discuss Kanithan’s Telugu remake, and am happy that Teja has given his nod to my film though he had two other films in the pipeline. When I suggested he start the remake first, he agreed to it. If everything goes well, the film will go on the floors soon. The rest of the cast will now be decided. The remake will be trimmed, but made on a bigger scale. There will be slight changes to suit the nativity of the audiences in Andhra.”

Kanithan starred Atharvaa and Catherine Tresa, and told the tale of a journalist on a mission to track down fake degree certificates. Atharvaa had earlier said that this film and his role in it would be milestones.
