Release Of ‘Shailaja Reddy Alludu’ Postponed Due To Kerala Floods

The release of the Maruthi Dasar directorial, Shailaja Reddy Alludu, starring Naga Chaithanya and Anu Emmanuel in the lead, has been postponed due to the floods in Kerala. The re-recording of the film was happening in the state. Actor Naga Chaitanya, in a tweet, said that the makers would soon announce a release date for the movie which was originally scheduled to hit the screens on August 31. Ramya Krishnan plays Shailaja Reddy in the film, which has Gopi Sunder composing music. Nizar Shafi is the cinematographer. .

Meanwhile, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Trivandrum home was damaged during the floods and his mother had to be rescued. Actor and producer Joju George’s house in Mala of Thrissur district was also flooded, with the actor posting several videos of the same.

According to Firstpost, the shooting set of the new Sathyan Anthikad movie starring Fahadh Faasil was washed away. And, almost all major Onam releases – Rosshan Andrews’ Nivin Pauly starrer Kayamkulam Kochunni, Amal Neerad’s Fahadh Faasil starrer Varathan, Biju Menon starrer Padayottam and Sethu’s Mammootty starrer Oru Kutanaadan Blog have been postponed indefinitely.

Only two out of the 14 districts of the state – Trivandrum and Kollam – have fully operating theatres.

Many actors were at the forefront of the rescue operations that were being carried out after the floods. Actor Tovino Thomas opened up his house for the victims and offered them food and shelter. He was seen on the field helping victims and also at relief camps giving pep talk to people. Indrajith Sukumaran and wife Poornima Indrajith did their part through Anbodu Kochi, a Facebook group formed during the Chennai floods. Actor Rajeev Pillai postponed his wedding in order to concentrate on relief work.

Other celebrities like Jayasurya, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav, Midhun Manuel Thomas were seen at relief centres organising and coordinating relief activities.
