Speculations about five heroes playing cameo roles in Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara starrer Mr Local are not true, the film’s spokesperson has confirmed. Some reports earlier said that actors Karthi, Jiiva, Arya, Udayanidhi Stalin and GV Prakash Kumar will be making special appearances. The film, directed by M Rajesh, is scheduled to release on May 1.
Meanwhile, the lyric video of the first song ‘Kalakkalu Mr Localu’ from the film is out. It introduces Sivakarthikeyan’s character as someone for the mass, and he has turned a singer once again for this peppy number. Hiphop Aadhi has composed music, lyrics are by KR Dharan.

Nayanthara plays the female lead, and her character is yet to be introduced but it is speculated that she will play a rich wife to Sivakarthikeyan’s character. Some believe that it is a callback to Rajinikanth’s superhit Mannan. The film also features Radikaa, YouTube-fame Harija, Sathish and Yogi Babu. Rest of the details are yet to be announced by the producers, they have been low-key about promotions so far.
Director M Rajesh, who is known for rom-coms like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Boss Engira Baskaran, is directing Sivakarthikeyan for the first time. He has worked with Nayanthara in Boss Engira Bhaskaran in 2010, and has been a dialogue writer for Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. He reportedly said in an interview, “Sivakarthikeyan felt that the film will create an impact only based on who we cast as heroine. He said Nayanthara is the best choice and I also felt the same.” He added that immediately after listening to the script over phone, Nayanthara too agreed for the part.
Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara are acting together for the second time after the Mohan Raja directorial Velaikkaran. Mr Local, produced by Studio Green, is likely to face tough competition from Avengers: Endgame which will also have a massive release in India and Tamil Nadu on April 26.
