This morning The Indian Express reported that lyricist Vairamuthu has been dropped from Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan.
No official confirmation has come from the Ponniyin Selvam team yet. However, a source close to the production told Silverscreen, that the crew is yet to decide if he’s there in the project or not. Mani Ratnam is said to be upset at the number of calls his crew has received in this regard and may even be mulling filing a case against some media organisations.
Several newspapers had pointed out Mani Ratnam’s insistence on working with Vairamuthu despite being accused by several women in #MeToo was derailing the movement.

Chinmayi has been at the forefront of this movement, and has been subject to over a year of harrasment and ostracism because she dared to name him first during #MeToo.
The report in Indian Express by journalist S Subhakeerthana pointed out that the entire crew of the film has been announced and Vairamuthu’s name has been left out.
To all the girls who couldn’t step out in the open. And to those of us who did because we were insulated by our families who stood with us – Bhuvana Seshan, Sindhu. https://t.co/HCVbaVMMDi
