The Karnataka distribution rights of LKG have been acquired by ANK Films. Meanwhile, Sakthi Film Factory is releasing the movie in Tamil Nadu.
The movie marks RJ Balaji’s first appearance as a solo lead. A former RJ and stand up comedian, RJ Balaji, apart from his role as a commentator in the IPL, has been doing only supporting roles in movies until now. He is best known for performances in films Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Kaatru Veliyidai, and Thaana Serndha Kootam.
After making her acting debut in 2009 with Vaamanan, Priya Anand was relatively late to venture into Kannada despite having worked in Telugu and Kannada. Nevertheless, the actress made her Kannada debut in 2017 with Raajakumara.
Directed by Santhosh Ananddram and starring Puneeth Rajkumar in the lead, the movie went on to become a huge success at the movie. The movie – a family action drama – was produced by Vijay Kiragnadur, who had also produced the recently released KGF (Kolar Gold Fields).

LKG – a political satire – has also been written by RJ Balaji. About the movie, he says “The first thing I decided was that it shouldn’t be a spoof film. I wanted to tell a story. The film is the journey of Lalgudi Karuppaiah Gandhi, a small-time politician. And there is definitely a takeaway in this film. I have provided a solution to our political issues.”
He had even urged the people to criticize the movie in every way possible. “I request everyone to see my film, and rip it apart if they feel so, because this is a product on which they spend their money. Also, I don’t want people to criticise me only in a constructive way. Everyone has their own style and tone, so they can criticise in whatever manner they want to,” he added.
LKG releases in both Tamil and Telugu on February 22.
