Maari saw Dhanush teaming up with actors Robo Shankar and Vinod. The film’s raging box office success has prompted the producers to think of a sequel.
Maari 2 will see Robo Shankar and Vinod sharing screen time with Dhanush, again. The film is presently in the scripting stage, and is expected to go on floors early 2017.

The 2015 hit saw Balaji Mohan at its helm; he will direct the sequel as well. Dhanush has been roped in to lock the final draft of the movie. According to a TOI report, a source close to the film unit has said, “It is not sure whether the entire cast from the first part can be retained. However, Robo Shankar and Vinod will play their original characters. The rest of the cast might be finalised in a few weeks.”
Kajal Aggarwal who was the female lead of Maari is yet to be signed on to the sequel. The project will be produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, and will most likely feature the music of Sean Roldan.
