SA Chandrasekhar’s Swansong Titled ‘Capmari’

Director SA Chandrasekhar’s next film, starring Jai, Athulya Ravi and Vaibhavi in the lead, has been titled Capmari. The team is currently shooting in Chennai.

Speaking to the media recently, SA Chandrasekhar announced that this would his last directorial. “I feel I’ve had a long career and it’s time to retire. This will be my 70th film, and also Jai’s 25th,” he said. The film revolves around three people who work in an IT company, and it will appeal to the youth, he said. “We spoke to many youngsters to understand their lifestyle. This is a romantic film. It is open-minded about relationships and sex, and we wanted to keep it realistic.”

The film has been predominantly shot in Chennai, and about 2o more days of shooting is left. The director also said the film would be remade in Hindi and that a leading actor is already on board. A Telugu remake will follow. Not much is known about the rest of the cast and crew.

SA Chandrasekhar has directed films across languages and worked with Vijayakanth, Vijay and Chiranjeevi, among others. Some of his popular films include VetriNaan Sigappu Manithan, Neethikku Thandanai and Once More. Directors Shankar, Rajesh and Ponram used to assist him.

Recently, the director was also part of many acting projects such as Traffic Ramaswamy and Nayyapudai. He played a supporting role in Durai Senthilkumar’s Dhanush and Trisha-starrer Kodi

Meanwhile, Jai has an upcoming film with Aramm director Gopi Nainar, featuring Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead, and Venkat Prabhu’s multi-starrer Party. He was recently seen in Neeya 2 and the Malayalam film Madhura Raja, co-starring Mammootty.

Athulya Ravi has three films under production – Naadodigal 2 by Samuthirakani, Adutha Saattai 2, the sequel of Saattai, and Yen Peyar Anandhan. 

Vaibhavi, last seen in Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu with Gautham Karthik, VJ Shaa Raa and others, has Server Sundaram co-starring Santhanam awaiting release.
