Producer Shibu Thameens said that the sequel to the 2003 runaway cop drama Saamy, which had lifted Chiyaan Vikram to stardom, would go on floors by early April next year. Plans for a sequel have been in the pipeline for a while. However, recent reports indicated that the project was being shelved. Speaking to the Times of India, Shibu Thameens has now clarified that the project had not been shelved and would roll out soon.

Thameens said, “The film has not been dropped. The script work has been going on for months. We are planning to start shooting from next April.”

The film will be directed by Hari, who had directed the first part as well. Harris Jayaraj will compose the music. The female lead hasn’t yet been finalised.

Meanwhile, the 50-year-old actor will be starring in Gautham Menon’s next film, which begins shooting in January 2017.
