Saif Ali Khan To Star In Netflix Original Series ‘Sacred Games’

Saif Ali Khan will play the lead in a Netflix original series based titled Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel of the same name. 

Scroll reports that this will be Netflix’s first original programming from India. According to the report, Saif Ali Khan will play the character of Sartaj Singh, a Mumbai Police officer. 

“His role is layered and complex, and we are thrilled to be working with such a fantastic actor to bring this story to a global audience,” Erik Barmack of Netflix said. Sartaj Singh finds himself in the centre of a web of criminal conspiracies, political corruption, power plays, and nuclear terrorism.

Indian Express reports that the series will be shot across India, and will be produced by Phantom Films and Netflix jointly. “Content in the digital space is taking over the existing dynamics at a rapid pace – the crown in the digital empire lies with Netflix, and it’s extremely satisfying to partner and participate in the first original series from India to be showcased on Netflix,” Saif Ali Khan told the publication.
