Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg 3’ Goes On Floors

Salman Khan At The 'Dus Ka Dum' Press Meet

Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 will go on floors today in Madhya Pradesh. The actor along with his brother Arbaaz Khan, who is producing the movie, posted a video on social media to announce the news.

In the video, the brothers are shown explaining their relationship with the towns of Mandleshwar and Maheshwar where the shooting is set to take place. Not only were the brothers born in the city of Indore but their grandfather was posted in the town when he was with the police force.

While the first two instalments in the Dabangg series were directed by Abhinav Kashyap and Arbaaz Khan, the third edition will be directed by Prabhu Deva.

Prabhu Deva, who was conferred with the Padma Shri recently, has been credited for reviving Salman Khan’s acting career in the past. After a string of flops in the 2000s, the actor’s career saw a resurgence after starring in Prabhu Deva’s Wanted. A remake of the Tamil film Pokkiri, which itself was a remake of a Telugu film of the same name, Wanted went on to become a huge hit in 2009.

Khan then followed it up with Dabangg in 2010 which became one of the highest grossing films during the time of its release. Nine years later Prabhu Deva is directing the third film in the series.

There were reports about the movie being a prequel. In an interview with DNA, Salman Khan clarified these rumours saying “The story starts with Dabangg 3 in the present and then it goes back to the past, and then comes back to the present day again. It will have a prequel portion, but only as a flashback.” He added that the story will contain portions that show what went into the making of Chulbul Pandey.

Meanwhile, the actor wrapped up shooting for Bharat. The movie, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, features Katrina Kaif in the female lead and is a remake of the Korean film Ode To My Father.
