Samuthirakani Might Rope In Nani For His Next Directorial

Actor-director Samuthirakani is reportedly working on a Tamil/Telugu bilingual and is keen on having actor Nani on board. According to a Deccan Chronicle report, Sasikumar is likely to play the lead in the Tamil version. Nani is yet to be approached.

If Nani joins the team, it would mark the second collaboration between the two, after Janda Pai Kapiraju (2015). Directed by Samuthirakani, the political action drama starred Nani in a dual role. The film was simultaneously made in Tamil as Nimirndhu Nil, starring Jayam Ravi, and released a year earlier. While the Tamil version was declared a hit, the Telugu version failed to impress at the box office.

Apart from this possible venture, Nani  has Ninnu Kori in the pipeline and a film each with Venu Sree Ram and Merlapaka Gandhi.

Samuthirakani, who was last seen in his directorial Thondan, has Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai starring Dhanush. There’s also the Malayalam remake of Appa, titled Aakasha Mittay,  in the pipeline. The actor was also seen shooting for Pa Ranjith’s Kaala starring Rajinikanth, and is gearing up for the release of Soundarya Rajinikanth’s VIP 2.
