Director Samuthirakani will direct a female-centric movie next. The movie will follow the life of a woman from her 14th year till her 40th, the director said in a recent interview. The Nimirnthu Nil director wanted to rope in actress Amala Paul for the lead role but the actress could not commit to the project due to her recent marriage to Director Vijay. Now, Samuthirakani is on the lookout for a suitable actress to play the lead.

Apart from this, the director is also busy with his acting career. He has bagged several important roles including that of Dhanush’s father in Velayilla Pattathari, the role of a forest officer in Kaadu, and roles in Sarath Kumar’s Sandamarudham and the biopic Kamarajar.
Samuthirakani’s most recent project was the Jayam Ravi starrer Nimirndhu Nil which hit the theatres earlier this year after a long delay.
