Sanju Trailer: Ranbir Kapoor Walks Through The Many Lives Of Sanjay Dutt

After much anxiety and speculation, the makers of the Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju have finally released the trailer! The two-minute forty seconds video gives us a quick, yet hard-hitting glimpse of the many lives of a single man – Sanjay Dutt.

The trailer starts off with Ranbir Kapoor’s doing a voice over, delivering the punch line: “Itna variety wala life aapko kidhar milega? Main bewra hoon, tharki hoon, drug addict hoon, saab hoon.. lekin terrorist nahin hoon,” (Where will you get a life of such variety? I am an alcoholic, sex and drug addict, but not a terrorist)an honest summary of Sanjay Dutt and his life.

The video then moves on to showing Ranbir Kapoor a.k.a Sanju’s initial days, where you get to see various phases – the onscreen phase, the drug addict phase, his alleged connection with the underworld, his affairs and much more. The trailer also gives us a quick glimpse of Anshuka Sharma, who plays a journalist. In an interview with Sanju, after his jail-term, Anushka asks Sanju how many girlfriends he’s had. Sanju gives a round figure- ‘350’. He also opens up about how he became a drug addict. He admits that the first time he did drugs he fought with his father, the second time when his mother was ill and by the third time he confesses he was already an addict.

All this while, the trailer only makes you realize that good or bad, Sanjay Dutt has always been open about his life, even if it meant speaking up to the media. In the second half of the trailer shows Sanju’s trial for the illegal possession of arms in connection to the 1993 Bombay blasts as a result of which his colorful life suddenly gets locked inside a jail.

The trailer also features Sonam Kapoor, who plays Tina Munim, who is rumoured to have been one of Sanjay Dutt’s love interest, Dia Mirza as Mr. Dutt’s wife Maanyata and Vicky Kaushal as his childhood friend and now brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju will hit screens on June 29.
