Sarkaru Vaari Paata: Arjun Sarja Joins the Cast of Mahesh Babu-Starrer Telugu Action Drama

Actor Arjun Sarja will be playing a pivotal role in the upcoming Telugu film Sarkaru Vaari Paata, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role, a source close to the film team told Silverscreen India on Tuesday.

The film is in the initial stages of production.

The film, which also stars Keerthy Suresh and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainments, and 14 Reels Plus.

It is written and directed by Parasuram, who previously helmed the 2018 romantic comedy Geetha Govindam.

Requesting anonymity, the source said: “Arjun is playing a key role in the film. He has heard the script narration but has not yet started to shoot. Arjun is expected to join the filming after a couple of months. As of now, only Mahesh Babu’s parts are being shot. At the same time, Arjun is also playing a negative role in Ravi Teja’s Khiladi and he finished about 90% of his portions for the film.”

Arjun, who predominantly works in Tamil cinema, will be making a comeback in Telugu films after three years with Khiladi and Sarkaru Vaari Paata. His last Telugu film was Naa Peru Surya, Naa Illu India in 2018.

“The film will have action and commercial elements. Sarkaru Vaari Paata means bidding and auctioning through which there is a transmission in power. The film will have these concepts, and will be set in a rural area,” said the source.

The source said that shooting began in Dubai in January but was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “About 20% of the shooting has been completed. The team primarily shot action sequences in Dubai and the rest of the portions in India,” the source said.

Music is composed by Thaman and its recording has started, the source added.

Every year, Mahesh Babu provides updates about the status of his films and future projects on May 31, on the occasion of his father, actor Krishna’s, birthday. However, this year, the actor’s team announced that it would not be giving any updates due to the ongoing pandemic.
