Last seen in Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta, Sasikumar seems to be busy this year as he has started to work on another project directed by debutant Kathir, who had previously assisted Sundar C. The actor took to his twitter handle to announce that the shoot for the film has begun.

Currently titled Sasikumar 19, the film stars Nikki Galrani opposite Sasikumar, while it also has an ensemble cast with about 30 artistes, including Sathish, Vijaykumar, Singampuli, Rekha, Manobala and Nirosha. The film will be produced by TD Raja under the banner Senthur Films International. National Award-winning editor VJ Sabu Joseph is to handle the edits for the film, and Siddharth of Thirudan Police fame on board as the cinematographer. The music for the film is composed by Sam CS.
Said to be a family entertainer, director Kathir told The New Indian Express, “It’s a commercial family-entertainer with a mix of both village and city backdrops. It will be completely different from what you have seen so far in a Sasikumar film. We have commenced shooting in Chennai; the rest of the film will be shot in Malaysia and Pollachi.” It is said that the title and the first look poster of the film will be unveiled after the completion of Pollachi schedule.

Sasikumar is awaiting the release of the much delayed Gautham Menon’s Enai Noki Paayum Thotta. It is said that the actor will be playing Dhanush’s brother. A photo shot on the sets was posted by Gautham Menon. Meanwhile Sasikumar also awaits for the release of Nadodigal 2, a sequel to 2009 Nadodigal directed by Samuthirakani. He has also signed Kombu Vatcha Singamda with director SR Prabhakaran with whom he had earlier done Sundarapandian.
Meanwhile, director Raju Murugan, who is awaiting the release of Gypsy is said to have approached Sasikumar and Samuthirakani to act in his next film. It is also said that the director has narrated the script and both actors have liked the story. However there is no official confirmation on this. Sasikumar is currently also working on Kennedy Club, directed by Suseethiran. Interestingly, this movie also stars Samuthirakani.
