Njan Prakashan – Sathyan Anthikkad’s new movie starring Fahadh Fassil, has been scheduled for a Christmas release on December 21. The film is produced by Sethu Mannarkkadu, under the banner of Full Moon Cinema, and has been scripted by Sreenivasan who is working with the director after 16 years.

Known for their satirical comedies, Sreenivasan and Sathyan Anthikkad have worked together on movies like Sandesham (1991), Thalayanamanthram (1990) and Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu (1988) – that have come to be seen as classics. These movies have been significant for actors like Mohanlal, Jayaram and Urvashi.
Released in 2002, Yaathrakkarude Shraddhakku was the duo’s last movie, after which the director started writing his own scripts, or worked with other writers. Starring Jayaram in the lead, the movie, incidentally, was one of the two films that featured actress Soundarya before her death in a plane crash in 2004.
Njan Prakashan will also have Sathyan and actor Fahadh Fassil work together after five years. They had previously worked on the 2013 movie Oru Indian Pranayakatha, in which Fahad played the role of a local politician.
Announcing the movie on Facebook earlier this year, the director wrote, “Njan Prakashan is the story of Prakashan – a typical Malayali lad one encounters in daily life. He has even got his name changed from Prakashan to PR Akash.”

Writer Sreenivasan also plays a role in the movie. Nikhila Vimal, who debuted with the director’s 2009 movie Bhagyadevatha, plays the female lead. S Kumar, who has worked with the director on movies like Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Vinodayathra is the cinematographer here.
Sathyan Anthikkad, who is famous for his collaborations with Ilaiyaraaja, will be working with composer Shaan Rahman for the first time in Njan Prakashan. Shaan Rahman is best known for composing the ‘Jimikki Kammal’ song.
