This marks Karthi’s next film after Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, and his first ever collaboration with Pandiraj. The female lead is Sayyeshha, best known for her work in last year’s Vanamagan with Jayam Ravi. Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainments, the film will also star Priya Bhavani Shankar, who made her cinema debut in last year’s Meyaadha Maan. Music is by D Imman, who currently has scores of projects to work on including director Siva’s Viswasam.
Last month, the makers of the film ran into some trouble with the Animal Welfare Board of India with respect to the representation of the rekla races portrayed in the movie. The producers had approached the AWBI for permission to shoot the scene which involves 211 cows and oxen, 48 cocks and 32 birds. The board, however, denied permission citing that the Supreme Court has banned the sport. That didn’t stop the makers from shooting the scene, and this came to light when Suriya, who is producing the film, shared a video of the shooting spot on Twitter.
