Last seen in a political drama Nota, Sathyaraj has signed his next project, titled Theerpukal Virkapadum directed by debutant Dheran.
Dheeran, who earlier made advertising commercials, spoke about his first feature project, and said, “This script demanded a courageous producer apart from a commanding hero. Sajeev Meerashahib Sir, as the producer and Sathyaraj as the hero have given life to the film. The protagonist of this film is a warrior of social justice. Sathyaraj Sir with his sheer presence, and gravity, comes across as a man of uncompromising attitude. He was the sole choice. I was amazed by his simplicity, his efforts to connect himself with today’s generation is commendable.”
A report in The New Indian Express, says that Sathyaraj will be playing a gynaecologist and the plot of the film will be similar to A Wednesday (Unnai Pol Oruvan). Sathyraj will reportedly be seen breaking norms and conventions, to “fight for the daughters of India.”
Saying that the film is based on a true incident, director Dheran said, “Our commitment to provide quality entertainment with a social message shall be explicit in this exciting action thriller. We are confident that the film will keep the audience on the edge of the seats frame to frame.”

The film’s title was provided by human rights activist Thirumurugan Gandhi, the founder of the May 17 Movement. “When we were asked to source a popular name to announce the title of our film, we instantly decided upon Thirumurugan Gandhi because of his presence in social justice circles,” Dheeran said.
Talking about the lead actor, producer Sajeev Meerashahib said, “We are indeed delighted to do a film with Sathyaraj Sir as the lead. He has got an amazing power of positivity that spreads to all. This script demanded his presence. When director Dheeran narrated the script to me we mutually agreed that only Sathyaraj can play this role. Such is the message and such is the aura of the name Sathyaraj. As a producer I opted to choose to produce this film in Tamil since I strongly believed that the reach would be much bigger. More over Tamil Nadu has been the breeding ground for social justice and will be forever.”
Produced by Sajeev Meerashahib under the banner HoneyBee Creations, the film has Aanji of Garuda Vega (Telugu) fame as the Director of Photography, while the music for the film will be composed by Prasad S N of Yaamirukka Bayamey fame and will be edited by Sarath, who was earlier an associate to Editor Ruben.
Although the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced, the shoot for the film will begin mid December.
