Dream Warrior Pictures tweeted the news yesterday and said that school administrations could approach theatres to avail of the offer.

SR Prabhu, who produced the film with his brother SR Prakashbabu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner, told Silverscreen, “Our idea is for the film to reach as many people as possible. It has opened to a good response. The discount offer for school students will apply from today in all theatres across Tamil Nadu.”

Reports say school students have already been coming in groups to watch the film. About 50 children in Coimbatore who study at a school run by Mother Teresa Charitable Trust watched the film at Kalpana Theatre in Kavundampalayam.

Teachers from a matriculation school in Anakaputhur, Chennai, watched the film at Velco Cinemas last evening. Teacher training students of Sri Surya College were given discounted tickets and free popcorn by Parimalam Cinemas in Batlagundu town of Dindugal district.

At the Raatchasi press meet last month, Jyotika stressed the importance of films that showcased the state of Government schools, and said it was all the more relevant with NEET and other issues in education. “Even if we make a hundred films that speak of the state of our Government schools, it will still be a much-needed discussion,” she said.

Written and directed by Sy Gowthamraj, the film stars Jyotika as N Geetha Rani, a principal who is determined to improve the standards of a school whose teachers are indifferent, and where politicians stand in the way of her attempts to better it. Poornima Bhagyaraj, Sathyan, Hareesh Peradi and Kavitha Bharathi starred in important roles. Sean Roldan is the music composer and cinematography is by Gokul Benoy. Philomin Raj is the editor and Pawal Kumar the art director.
