Selva Pays Tribute To Rajinikanth In ’12-12-1950′

Sporting a look similar to Rajinikanth’s in Kabali and even calling himself ‘Kabali’ Selva, the actor/director’s next is a tribute to the superstar. Aptly titled 12-12-1950 (Rajinikanth’s birthday), the film is said to focus on the star’s  fandom across the globe.

The film’s motion poster was released on Saturday, and it revealed Selva’s new look too.

“It’s a story about five Rajinikanth fans and their journey. We chose this title because it befits the story and not to merely cash in on the superstar’s popularity. The film will make people understand what it really means to be Rajinikanth’s fans, and it will take his fandom to the next level,” he told IANS.

A comedy of sorts, with action and some thrills, the film sees Selva play a kung fu master sporting Rajinikanth’s Kabali look The film also stars Ramesh Thilak, Yogi Babu, MS Bhaskar, Delhi Ganesh, Ajay, Adhavan and Prashanth.

Incidentally, Selva told Deccan Chronicle that the film would not feature any Rajini-style punch dialogues or  smoking scenes. “I started a movement called WASBOND (world anti-smoking bond), two years ago. So far, I have taken 60,000 signatures from school students, who have pledged that they will not touch cigarettes. I also met Rajini sir then and discussed the initiative,” he shares.

The film is in post-production.
